It’s the second time we order pizza from here and I was amazed. Both normal Base and gf base were really good (I’m born and breed in Italy so that should say a lot!). I have been trying gf bases in many different places and so far 48h is one of the best for it. But the very outstanding part of the experience were the toppings: gourmet pizzas are very different from the usual ones you find in all the pizza places (even the most popular Italian ones). Quality of toppings is great. I have asked for my pizza to be only with buffalo mozzarella and not normal mozzarella (I m lactose intolerant, so I avoid cow milk) and they sent me a pizza completely covered in buffalo and goat cheese (as from menu) with an extra half mozzarella di bufala on top. Was recommended this place by my Italian friend who said this was the best Pizza she had outside of her home town in Napoli. 😯 Well I definitely wasn't disappointed.👌🏼although this place was super busy, the manager created space for sitting inside. The staff were very friendly, and when asked for recommendations, took the time to explain and suggest some good options.🙏🏼 The pizza was indeed delicious. Perfect amount and generous toppings, super thin base with good quality ingredients. 😍You eat it and don't bloat or feel full. The gnocchi was fluffy and soft, the flavours reminded me of a perfectly home cooked meal my mother makes! The dessert was absolutely delicious, freshly made on the spot and just perfect to finish off the dinner. This place is 100% worth the visit. Thank you for a beautiful experience! Grazie! ~ Stan V

Delicious pizza and wonderful house beer The quality of the meat and cheese on my pizza was excellent, with salty specks through the parmesan adding great flavour. The servings are generous, and the base traditional and satisfying to munch through. The sugo sauce is great. The house "48hr" beer is a standout and highly recommended - fruity and flavourful, paired beautifully with my pizza. There was a slight miscommunication with our order delaying the mains and the waitstaff were quick to correct. The meals came out fast even with the delay. Minor negatives: My partner had a non-sugo pizza and wasn't as impressed, but chalked it up to differing tastes. The starter (focaccia) was burnt around the edges but the burnt bubbles were so thin it barely affected taste. Not enough to detract an entire star - call it 4.5. ~ Will T

Really lovely service tonight from the team. We were a group of three with baby in tow and the team made us all feel very welcome and kindly accommodated our dietary requirement. I have been here several times before and decided to take my friends here as they were visiting Melbourne. The food was top notch as usual, fresh, flavoursome and just damn delicious. While the specific pizza we ordered this time was not to our particular taste (no fault to the restaurant) I would gladly come back again for my usual Di Parma. As the weather cooled down they also turned on the outdoor heaters too to keep everyone comfortable. Great job again to the team and I’m looking forward to my next visit! ~ K S

I can see why 48h has such a good reputation. The food and service are wonderful. My pizza crust was so beautifully fluffy and bubbled. Extensive wine list. The photos online do not do justice to the atmosphere in 48h. If you get the chance, position yourself with a view to the kitchen. You can see it all happening. There is 1 person dedicated to slicing. 1 to pizza cooking. And then another 4 to preparing and plating. A very professional operation. Just like the front of house. And friendly too. Take advantage of the "no cake age fee". Bring a cake and they will present it beautifully for your next celebration. All the gnocchi is GF. All the pizza has a GF option. ~ Scott H

Very nice pizza. And sweets. Just a small note that at the pizza with the garlic truffle oil, i noticed that you put the oil maybe before baking the pizza, and it got burnt. And when we tasted the pizza it smelled like benzine.I believe this aromatic oil is added in the end, after the cooking. Thats what i ve seen overseas. Also, i am fascinated that the sweets are homemade by you-i am sure of that. The second time we bought sweets though, they werent so fresh maybe.The mascarpone wasnt the consistency it should be, it was like it had cream cheese inside. But i believe you re fabulous and will happily come again. I am glad you exist and we can eat something tasty. ~ N K

If I could give 6 stars, I would. I must have walked past the amazing gem hundreds of times, without going in. I decided my birthday was the time for my first visit, and I was not disappointed. The staff, and who I gather are the owners or operators, were exceptionally attentive. I do not often have gnocchi, so it was a real treat eating what is probably the best in Melbourne, if not Australia. The open kitchen also allowed me to see unbelievable pizza after pizza being made. I know what I will be ordering when I visit again. I highly recommend visiting the Gnocchi Bar in Elsternwick! ~ Trevor G

Update 21/3/19: as if not already epic, now with an updated menu including many vegan options plus several new Mare Nostrum dishes.. tonight I tried the mushroom version. Sublime! If you don't like the pizza here, then its very very likely you have no idea what top notch, genuine pizza is. This is pretty much as authentic, and as good as pizza gets. It is as simple as that. (original review:) Wow, genuine Italian with great quality, fresh ingredients. Just about everything on the menu I'd love to try. The dish similar to a fondue was something special. We ate completely gluten free and it was absolutely delicious. I do not know what they use for their gluten free base but OMG you would think it was the regular base. I will be taking all my gluten free friends here! We had the Mare Nostrum - imagine pizza base with an amazing bowl of melted cheese and rosemary, we all loved it! Gnocchi Pantelleria - absolutely Devine Di Parma and Genova Pizza once again perfect base, not soggy and nice and smoky from the wood fired oven. Service does not disappoint either! ~ Majorie E

No wonder this place has won so many awards. Truly unique pizza perfectly balanced and originally presented. Each of the friends I went with have their own favourite pizza and as it’s something very easily to share it helps us to try every one’s selection. All beautiful and delicious Good wine selection by the way, which enhances the whole experience. If you’re going to the cinema next door, please allow enough time in advance because it’s always busy. Four of us really enjoyed this excellent restaurant! Food was as good - if not better - than that we've had in many trips to Italy. Very attentive and friendly service. Wonderful menu - food, wine and other drinks. We dined inside - but outside wouldn't have been a problem as its quite protected. People often say they'll return. Visited for a birthday and found the food to be super delicious. No complaints and lots of clean plates. The service was friendly and fast and the waiting staff were very polite and accommodating. The mushroom pizza was amazing (perhaps a tad too much oil for me but still yum) and the other pizzas, pasta and gnocchi on the table all looked great. Lots of options for all tastes and food preferences (impressive!). Will be back to try more delicious dishes. Thanks guys. ~ Monique G

Fantastic wood-fired pizza and exceptional service! The pizza here is truly one of the best I've had from a wood oven. But what really sets this place apart is the outstanding service. Special shout-out to Nico, his friendly attitude and attentiveness made the whole experience delightful specially for our little daughter. Food really tasted amazing and the portions were generous. The atmosphere was also exceptional; the place was full at 6pm and the open kitchen added intrigue to the experience. Service was great overall, but we were waited on after people who arrived later than us, and they took a while to serve our drinks (they came after the food). These things can happen when you're really busy, and the waitress was apologetic for the drinks. We'll be back for sure ~ Pasquale A

Really nice little cosy bar and restaurant. The kitchen is semi open so you can watch the chefs prepare, lots of ingredients and fun stuff on the shelves around the walls. Pizza was traditional Italian woodfire and was very nice. Ingredients were really good. The gnocci was very soft, but a tad grainy towards the end of the meal. Sauce and meat was great. Wine selection from the waiter was great. Staff were excellent. ~ Alex C

We tried for the first time today and this place honestly deserves more than 5 stars. The service is great and the food is amazing, I've been eating at great places around Melbourne for years and this is the best pizza I've ever had in Australia. Honestly, I also have to say the gnocchi here is amazing, too. This is one of those places that you just have to try for yourself. There's also great seating indoors and outside. ~ M L

Pizza and gnocchi are beautiful, authentic Italian wood fire pizza done so well. The gnocchi will melt in your mouth, so soft. The restaurant is small and tables are close together but the staff are great and the menu vast. The bread basket is a must to share amongst the table. I love being able to see the chefs at work, and the place is really clean. In a great spot a couple of doors down from the classic cinema. ~ Vegowego

What an omg experience! Watched the chef making pizza and other dishes in the kitchen was an excitement! Everything was cooked to perfection! Totally an art to watch and to eat! There are other bits and pieces of produce you can purchase from them too! I'd love to join their pizza making class!! Great eat for a small restaurant! Not particularly romantic but a family, small group friendly place for amazing dishes! ~ June L

Really excellent dishes, had the pecorino gnocchi which comes in a cheese rind which they scoop out for you at the table. We also had a Montenara salad and the tiramisu for dessert was one of the best I've ever had in my life. Cheesecake was a delicious strawberry-lime-mint combination. The Spritz lipstick was a fantastic combo of Rose and raspberry flavors. All around fabulous meal!! ~ Shayna A

Fantastic Italian restaurant in a very convenient location right next to the station. The food is wonderful and lovingly hand made by the chef's right next to you. There is a traditional pizza oven and the prosciutto is cut fresh before it hits the plate. The price is on the premium end but that's expected for that kind of quality. The Di Parma is probably the BEST pizza I have ever tasted. My family agreed. We dined at the Elsterwick store and we absolutely loved it. The restaurant had a good atmosphere, the service was sensational and food divine. We ate pizza, gnocchi and ragu pasta and it was all delicious. Couldn't recommend this place more highly. This place serves real Italian pizza just the way it should be! The flavors were authentic, the crust was spot on, and everything tasted freshly made. Such a good place to have amazing food. We ordered two of their vegetarian pizzas and the tiramisu, I'm not gonna lie to you, it's one of the best pizzas I've had in years. The ingredients were fresh, the base was a perfect combination of lightness and fluffiness and the service was attentive and nice. I had such an amazing experience there! 🤩 ~ Lili G
